Choosing our November cover story was particularly challenging as it comes on the cusp of the US election, which is guaranteed to have global implications. But equally as consequential is the escalating confrontation between Israel and Iran, with Israel’s wars on Gaza and Lebanon raging in the background.

What does the future have in store? We cannot tell, but what is certain is that whoever becomes America’s next president will face some tough choices and challenges in the Middle East.
