Since Israel launched its devastating war on 7 October 2023 following Hamas's unprecedented attack, Gaza has been practically decimated. In what has been termed as a plausible genocide by the International Court of Justice, Israel has killed upwards of 40,000 Palestinians and maimed over 100,000. The war has had knock-on effects throughout the region, with Israel dealing Hezbollah a series of setbacks, Iran and Israel trading direct blows and the collapse of the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. Our special coverage tackles Gaza—where a tenuous ceasefire was reached just before Trump’s inauguration—and the regional fallout.
