Al Majalla, first launched in 1980, was an inspiring source of knowledge for generations. It influenced their political, intellectual, and economic awareness and contributed to the news content industry around the world. Now, Al Majalla returns to continue its role as one of the most prominent platforms that originated from the heart of the Middle East but expanded regionally and internationally.
In the past, the printed word was the key to knowledge. However, this has changed in our time, as resources and tools have expanded, and the audio-visual has become a journalistic and knowledge medium that is as equally important as traditional reading.
As part of the transformation strategy of the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), Al Majalla will resume its role in its print and digital versions in Arabic and English. It will use all digital tools and platforms, including newsletters, to provide meaningful analysis of political and diplomatic events and developments and present a farsighted vision for the future.
The first issue is devoted to developments in Iran, where the 44th anniversary of the "revolution" takes place this February amid grating internal and external challenges that make the memory painful for some and inspirational for others.
Despite the state’s security grip and its series of executions, Iran is experiencing unprecedented protests after the killing of Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish woman. These protests broke out when the regime's isolation in the West and the international community increased. Any hope for lifting sanctions and signing the "nuclear agreement" dwindled amid Western threats of additional sanctions.
Al Majalla unpacks these developments in Iran, in both its print and digital versions, posing a question: "Is the regime falling?" A team of Arab and foreign journalists and experts addresses this question in all its aspects and repercussions on the region and the Arab region.
Moreover, the first edition of the emailed newsletter, which will be issued every Monday morning, will include a variety of stories from the cover stories and other topics.
