This year, International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 8 March every year, comes at a particularly difficult time for women—especially the ones living under Israeli bombardment and siege in Gaza.
As we celebrate the political, economic and cultural achievements of Arab women throughout the region, we also highlight some of their most pressing challenges, particularly for those living in war zones.
Still, there is much to celebrate.
Arab women have made great strides in their fight for gender equality in the Middle East. This struggle has borne fruit in some parts of the region, as women have achieved multi-tiered success and are increasingly climbing the corporate ladder to attain high-profile positions.
