UK Labour Party Leader Starmer Says Small Businesses To Thrive Under Labour

Leader of the UK Labour Party Keir Starmer said that small and medium-sized enterprises will thrive under his party.

“As Labour leader, I am committed to making this the most pro-business Labour Party ever. I’m making the argument for a new partnership between an active state and enterprising business,” Starmer said during the 5th SME4Labour Awards which was held last night.

Attending the event were Angela Rayner, deputy leader of the Labour Party, Rachel Reeves, Shadow Chancellor, Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London and almost all Shadow cabinet members and many members of the UK Parliament along with 1200 guests.

The SME4Labour Awards, celebrates and recognizes the success of both individuals and organisations within the Labour Party, and represents an important opportunity for all parts of the Party to celebrate the contribution of small businesses to the UK economy.

The Winner of the Shadow Cabinet Member of the year Award was Shadow Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting with the Labour MP of the year being jointly awarded to Siobhain McDonagh and Carolyn Harris.

Starmer said that the next Labour government will be focussed on tackling the deep inequalities and injustices across the country.

“We’ll ensure that business can thrive and create the jobs of the future, and help every region and nation prosper.”

Ibrahim Dogus, founder of SME4Labour, said, “We founded SME4Labour for two main reasons - to champion the policies needed for Small and Medium Enterprises to thrive, and to bring entrepreneurs, investors, and business people into the family of Labour supporters.”

“That job has got easier over the past two years – with Sir Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves, Jonny Reynolds, Sadiq Khan, and the rest of the Labour team committed to engaging and supporting business.”
