But the problem is that no one is prepared to slow down the AI race, as countries and companies fear being overtaken by rivals; the United States fears losing ground to China, and China has no intention of letting America forge ahead unchallenged.
AI holds out the promise of a revolution that could transform medicine, reshape economies and vastly expand the frontiers of human knowledge. Yet its dangers range from job disruption to autonomous weapons, cyberattacks, and, at the furthest extreme, the loss of human control itself.
