The appearance the Egyptian actor, Yasser Galal, in the character of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, sparked a state of interaction through social media, with the presentation of the first episode of the series “El Ekhteyar 3" (The Choice).
The new part of the series, which is an extension of two previous parts that were earlier shown during the month of Ramadan, presents an artistic treatment of the most historic experiences that Egypt has gone through in recent years since Sisi was chosen as Minister of Defense during the rule of former President Mohamed Morsi.
Galal played the President before he came to office after the June 30 Revolution in 2013. The makeup team successfully transformed Galal into El Sisi despite the differences in their features.
Yasser Galal was born in Alexandria Governorate on April 16, 1969, into an artistic family. He is the son of director Galal Tawfiq, the eldest brother of fellow onscreen personality Ramez Galal. He entered the world of art through cinema, in 1983 through his participation in the movie “The Dancer and the Drummer”, at the age of 14 years.
Yasser belongs to cinema and TV’s rising generation that shone at the end of 1990s. He studied in the High Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1990. After graduation, he played a role in “Rahma wa ameer al-ghaaba” (Rahma and Prince of the forest).
Upon finishing his military service, Galal worked in TV and Theatre. He excelled in TV series like “Lan a’eesh fe gelbaab aby” (I will not put myself in my father’s robe), “Al-waa’d al-hakk” (The right promise), “Nahnu la nazraa’al-shawk” (We do not sow thorns), “Awlaad hadret al-naazer” (Principal’s children) and “Al-batal” ( The hero).
Many have linked the features of Yasser Galal and the late artist, Rushdi Abaza, to the cinema, due to the similarity of features and personality as well as the seriousness and masculinity that characterize the personality of both of them, in addition to the handsomeness.
Yasser Galal's art spanned nearly 90 critically-acclaimed roles, most of which were secondary roles, until his stardom year (2017), in which he put his foot firmly in the ladder to stardom after his success in the series, "Shadow of the President" and then the starring- lead roles rolled over him.
Many viewers deal with Yasser Galal as the first star of Ramadan this year, praising his performance and his elaborate portrayal of the character, through emotions, body language and tone of voice, to the distinctive form of make-up that is very close to the character and the voice that seems to be largely identical.
In 2006, Yasser Galal married lawyer Heba Abdel Moneim, from outside the artistic community, and they have a daughter and a son, Qadriya and Galal.
Galal has won many awards, the most important of which are the Best Actor Award in 2017 for his role in the series “The President’s Shadow,” and the Best Actor Award at Dear Guest Festival for his role in the series “Rahim” in 2018.
