By Boutros Boutros Ghali

First, All the topics discussed revolve around international politics.  The nature of international politics does not allow it to change overnight. Second there is an interest in giving a historical background to world events. Such historical background is a key element in understanding the developments in international relations. Third The common factor between the three interviews is the fact that Dr. Ghali had these interviews during the time when he was teaching law, in addition to the effect of the Egyptian, French, American, and Marxist education on his personality and culture at the academic and political levels. Such education and field of study require a person to look for common factors between ideas and works when he writes or talks. This fact is demonstrated clearly in the case of Dr. Ghali, who believes in the universality of thought, movement, action and reaction.

Some might think that the book contains outdated information, as the interviews it contains are old, and that it does not talk about the future, despite its title and the year it was published in. But, as Dr. Ghali says "The nature of international politics does not allow it to change overnight". The book predicts that the United States will fail in ruling the world alone. It predicts that new political powers will emerge on the international political scene, including - according to the writer - China and Russia.

Also, the book reveals for the reader the secret behind Dr. Ghali leaving his office in the United Nations. Dr. Boutros-Ghali was voted the secretary-general of the United Nations from 1992 to 1996, until someone ordered the departure of this "loathsome person", who belongs to the Egyptian-Arab Third World (as Dr. Ghali puts it).

In addition, the book contains serious announcements by Dr. Ghali, which reveal that he actually believed that the United Nations could have played an important role in the Cold War. But he discovered that the United Nations is controlled by only one power. Dr. Ghali is convinced that absolute power unwatched by the international community and other international players, is simply a corruptive power. Therefore, this authority is always seeking to appoint a secretary-general and not a "general" in the United Nations.

The book deservers to be read by those interested in international politics and human rights. It is a history of certain world events, which can only be known through reading such books. The future can only be seen through the eyes of the past.
